Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a treatment in which surface dead skin cells are scraped away with a specially designed scalpel.  This reduces the thickness of the stratum corneum, or the outermost layer of the epidermis.

Benefits of Dermaplaning include the increase of cellular turnover, increased absorption of skin care products, smoother skin texture, and the  removal of vellus hair or “peach fuzz”.  Vellus hair will return with time, however is will never return darker or heavier.

Dermaplaning is painless, quick and requires no recovery time.  Often it is paired with a light peel or enzyme treatment.  Consensus is that no treatment make the skin feel quite as pristine, “like a baby’s bottom”, as with Dermaplaning.

Medical treatments like these require a skilled, educated and licensed Medical Esthetician to execute them properly.  Your Medical Esthetician will be able to determine if this is an appropriate treatment for your skin.
